 Drones hit east Congo's biggest city, killing French aid worker, rebels and UN say Drone strikes hit Goma in east Congo ​on Wednesday, killing at least three people including a French aid worker, the ‌first such attack in the city since AFC/M23 rebels seized it last year, according to the group and the U.N. The AFC/M23 blamed the attack on the Congolese army, saying in a post on X that Kinshasa ​had launched drones against a densely populated urban area in the lakeside city. A senior official for U.N. children's agency UNICEF told Reuters ​that one of its employees, a French national, was killed. French President Emmanuel Macron and Hadja Lahbib, ​European Commissioner for equality, preparedness and crisis management, condemned the attack in posts on X, calling for respect for international humanitarian law and saying aid workers must never be targeted. Police arrest man for snatching woman’s phone in Jigawa

A 30-year-old housewife Halima Ya’u narrowly escaped death after a phone snatcher attacked her in Kadoma village, Jahun Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
A resident told DAILY POST that the phone snatcher took advantage of her husband’s absence and sneaked into the house.
He said the attacker asked the woman to hand over her phone which she refused. He attacked her with a knife, inflicting cuts on her body and made away with the phone.
Police spokesman, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the incident.
According to him, “on 22/09/2023 at about 0400hrs, a distress call was received from Kadoma village Jahun LGA that an unknown person trespassed into the house of one Halima Yau attacked her with a knife which as a result she sustained injuries on her face and back and took away with her phone.”
He said on receiving the report, a team of policemen was mobilized to the scene where the suspect was arrested and the exhibit was recovered.
He said the suspect confessed to the commission of the offense and will be taken to court for prosecution after an investigation.
