 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Yari Distributes 145 Trucks of Grains as Palliatives to People of Zamfara

About 140 trucks of Maize is set for distribution across 14 local government areas of Zamfara state by Abdulaziz Yari the Senator representing Zamfara West. 

This was disclosed in a statement to newsmen in Gusau by his Chairman, Publicity Committee, Malam Ibrahim Muhammad Dan'madami.

Speaking, Chairman of the 25 man member State Committee, Lawal Liman Gabdon explained that the distribution of the palliatives would commence on Tuesday across the 147 wards of the state.

Lawal Liman stated that each local government was allocated 10 trucks of maize for 12,000 beneficiaries identified during the enumeration conducted by local government and ward-level committees, with the exception of GUSAU LGA, which received an additional five trucks.

He further explained that within this allocation, 1,000 beneficiaries must be selected from each ward, while the remaining beneficiaries should be drawn from the local government headquarters.

According to him, beneficiaries must be heads of the households, needy, widows left with orphans or divorcees with young children.

Gabdo also charged the committee members to be just and fair in the distribution and urged the beneficiaries to pray for the donor as well as prevailing peace and harmony in the state and the country at large.
