 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Pastor Dies As Church Building Collapses In Benue 


A pastor with the Dunamis Church in Markudi, Benue State, was said to have died after the church building collapsed during a prayer session. 


The sad incident happened on Monday. 


Four others, who were with the pastor when the building collapsed, reportedly sustained varying degrees of injuries. 


Confirming the sad incident to journalists on Tuesday, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Bartholomew Onyeka, said, "Something like that happened, just one person died in the process. 


"You know when debris falls on people like that, the immediate reaction is what happens to the victims. So, people who rushed there were able to rescue four people; unfortunately, one person died. 


"The injured persons are responding to treatment in a hospital where they were taken to.".

Gov Alia storms site of collapsed building, blasts Dunamis leadership


The Governor of Benue State, Fr Hayicnth Alia, has slammed the leadership of the Dunamis International gospel centre for erecting a substandard structure.


Yhe church caved in the early hours of Tuesday, killing the resident pastor, Ahmed Sunday and injuring others.


Speaking when he visited the site, the Governor expressed disappointment that he did not meet any of the leaders of the church on ground.


He said the building was poorly constructed and would be revoked.


He said the leader of the church should know the law.
