 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. NSCDC EXPRESSES ZERO TOLERANCE FOR VANDALISATION IN ZAMFARA STATE

 


The Zamfara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC, has expressed zero tolerance for vandalisation of any sort in Zamfara State.

The State Commandant of the Corps, Commandant Sani Mustapha made this known when he addressing the Association of Scraped Products Buyers in Zamfara State. 

Sani Mustapha reiterated the resolve of the Corps in the State to deal ruthlessly with any one found vandalizing government and public utilities using the extant laws of the Federation.

He advised the Association to collaborate with the Corps in order to fish out bad eggs and perpetrators of such crimes in their business acrose the State. 

The Commandant also charged the leadership of the Association to desist from buying any goods suspected to have been vandalized or having questionable identity.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Association, Alhaji. Aminu Abbah who led the group, said the Association is ready to redeem the image of the State, as a result, he pledged to collaborate with the Corps to put an end to vandalisation of Government and private properties in the State.

He however extolled the doggedness of the Corps in the fight against insecurity and vandalisation in the state, and promised to support the Corps in the state to root out vandalism.
