 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken. Shettima Unveils South-East Peace Project In Abia

Vice President Kashim Shettima, on Friday, attended the unveiling of the 'Peace in South East Project' in Abia State. 

The project is an initiative aimed at addressing insecurity and related issues in the South East. 

Shettima disclosed this via his Facebook page in the late hours of Friday. 

The event was anchored by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu. 

Shettima, before the unveiling, had received a traditional title of Omeziri Igbo 1, conferred on President Bola Tinubu by the Chairman of the Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Linus Mbah, at a grand reception held in honour of the Deputy Speaker. 

Shettima's statement read, "Earlier today in Bende, Abia State, I attended the unveiling of the Peace in South East Project (PISE-P) - an initiative aimed at addressing insecurity and related issues in South East Nigeria, and anchored by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu. 

"The President has been worried about the economic devastation inflicted on the Southeast geopolitical zone by non-state actors since he assumed office and is determined to deploy all available resources to eliminate the purveyors of falsehoods and propaganda that have become weapons against Nigeria's unity. 

"I was accompanied by dignitaries including Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Gilbert Onyekachukwu Ibezim; Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, and National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.".
