 Man brutalises his pregnant wife in Anambra  In another case of domestic violence, a pregnant woman was brutally beaten by her husband in Ichi, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State. The mother of three identified as Chinelo Francis, from Ebonyi State, said trouble began when she requested money from her husband, Peter, to prepare food.  According to the young woman, she had already bought vegetable with the profit she made from her shop. Peter, also from Ebonyi, claimed he didn’t make money that day and took the children home.  He returned to her shop at around 8:00 PM and insisted she close up and come home with him.  She refused, explaining that the time was when she typically made most of her sales.  Later, she closed up her shop, went home at 9:30 PM, prepared the children for bed, and retired. Kwara CJ calls for repositioning of nation's judiciary

The Chief Judge of Kwara state and chairman, Judicial Service Commission, Justice Abiodun Adebara, has called for repositioning of the nation's judiciary to continue to serve as a trusted and impartial
pillar of democracy. 

Speaking at the special session of the High Court to commence the 2023/2024 legal year , Justice Adebara said that the justice system has been plagued by a backlog of cases, delays, corruption, and lack of access to justice for many citizens, especially the poor and marginalized". 

According to him in order to reposition the nation's judiciary there is need to acknowledge and address the challenges that have hampered its effectiveness in the past.

Justice Adebara said we are at a critical juncture in the nation's history where the judiciary must reposition itself as a trusted and impartial
pillar of our democracy. 

He said the judiciary is the final arbiter of justice in the society, adding that it is the responsibility of the judiciary to ensure that every
person is treated fairly and equitably under the law".

The CJ, who said that the challenges would be tackled
head-on, also added that judicial officers would work together to find innovative solutions to ensure
that justice is delivered promptly and efficiently to all. 

Justice Adebara pledged to work tirelessly to address these challenges and to restore the faith of the people in the judiciary.
