 UN says 53 Congolese refugees have died in Burundi More than 50 refugees fleeing fighting in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo have died in neighbouring Burundi, the United Nations Refugee Agency told Reuters late on Friday. Of a total 53 deaths recorded, 25 people died due to a cholera outbreak, the agency said, while six others died from anemia and other complications related to malnutrition, it said. The U.N. said it was working with the health ministry and other partners to investigate the cause of the other deaths. More than 100,000 Congolese have sought refuge in Burundi since fighting near the border intensified in early December and rebels seized the town of Uvira, the UNHCR said. Jean Jacques Purusi, governor of South Kivu province where Uvira is located, described the situation in Burundi as "misery" and "a crisis completely forgotten by the international community and media." LASG TRAINS OFFICERS IN STRESS MANAGEMENT


Towards the realisation of the THEMES Plus Agenda of the Administration of Babajide Sanwo-Olu concerning capacity building of the workforce, the Ministry of Establishments and Training organised a two-day training programme for Public Servants.

The training programme with the theme, "Managing Stress and Nurturing Team Relationship", was held today at LCCI with 100 participants from different Ministries, Departments and Agencies. The objective of the training is to acquaint officers with how to balance their personal and professional lives to enhance productivity.

In her opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Establishments and Training, Mrs. Olubusola Abidakun noted that the uniqueness of the training was that the resource persons for the training programme are drawn from the Civil Service.

Abidakun advised participants to be proud of themselves as staff of Lagos State, stating that participants must be able to practice all that the government had inculcated by applying it in their various MDAs.

While highlighting the topics to be discussed in the course of the training programme, she emphasised the need to give a listening ear to down-line Officers and avoid the use of the word, subordinate. According to her, "Never use the word subordinate, it is not in the dictionary of the Human Resource Managers".

She stated that one of the topics for training was "Managing Pressure and Stress at Workplace", adding that as a principal in leadership, it was crucial to be able to manage stress.

Abidakun appreciated all the resource persons who have volunteered to be part of the programme. They include the Permanent Secretary of Local Government Establishments and Training, Mrs. Bibilomo Olushekun; Permanent Secretary, Civil Service Commission, Mr. Akinbode Obadina; Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mrs. Sunkanmi Oyegbola, and Permanent Secretary of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa amongst others.

Director of Training, Mrs. Abisola Dokunmu-Adegbite reiterated that it is time to give back to the community and society which is public service, stressing the need to actively participate in all sessions. She said any officer could be invited in the near future to facilitate in the training programme.

Innoson Gives Out Brand New IVM G5 and Salary For Life To The Man Who Prophesied About His Vehicle Manufacturing In 1979.  Last Saturday, July 22nd the Chairman of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company Ltd, Chief Dr Innocent Ifediaso Chukwuma OFR gave out a brand new Innoson IVM G5 to Mr Ikechukwu Osakwe popularly known as Osabros who prophesied to him in 1979 that he would be the first man in Africa to manufacture vehicles and sell to different African countries.  The prophecy was given at the period the then Innocent Chukwuma could not boast of a car, talk less of manufacturing one.  Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
