4.7M girls vaccinated against cervical cancer – Remi Tinubu

Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, has revealed that approximately 4.7 million girls have received successful immunizations against cervical cancer since October 2023.

She said the achievement stems from a collaborative effort between her office and the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

Speaking at the formal launch of the Women’s Optimal Health Framework in Kampala, Uganda, Senator Tinubu credited the nationwide immunization campaign to the inclusion of the Human Papilloma Vaccine in the country’s routine vaccine schedule.

Represented by the Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs. Uju Kennedy-Ohanneye, she commended the leadership of the First Lady of Uganda, Janet Museveni, for her commitment to women’s health initiatives.

She described the Women’s Optimal Health Framework as a research-based resource that marks a significant milestone in prioritizing women’s health and well-being throughout their lives, from conception to old age.

In response, the Ugandan First Lady praised Senator Oluremi Tinubu as a beacon of hope for women not only in Nigeria but across Africa.

She expressed optimism that the optimal women’s health framework would foster partnerships aimed at enhancing the health and overall well-being of women throughout the African continent.
