 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken. *Anambra State Government hands over Igbo-ukwu museum for rehabilitation*

The Anambra State Government has handed over the Igbo-ukwu Museum to Fargo World Enterprises for rehabilitation and refitting with the necessary gadgets and facilities befiting a modern museum for the purpose of work and tourism.


Handing over the facility, the Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Mr. Don Onyenji referred Igbo-ukwu museum as important to the government due to its potentials of attracting tourists into the state.


He described culture as both sculptural artifacts, character and attitude of the people while condemning the act of adulteration of Igbo culture with alien culture citing flambouyant  burial ceremony as a case study.


The commissioner advocated for the protection of the Igbo culture and language from going into extinction by researching and promoting the language and culture in the interest of posterity.


He, then, charged the contractor of the project to ensure that the work is delivered on its mandate.


Welcoming the team, the traditional ruler of Igbo-ukwu, Igwe Alexander Ejikemeuwa represented by one of his chiefs, Ichie Fabian Okeke thanked Gov. Chukwuma Soludo for his interest in developing the Museum and projected that it would attract tourists from different parts of the world after the completion of the renovation.


In his acceptance speech, the contractor of the project, Mr. Ifeanyi Nnebe, who is also the Chairman, Fargo World Enterprises promised to deliver according to the specifications of the work.


He described the project as an Igbo heritage promising to make it a symbolic one.


The work was approved by Gov. Soludo in fulfilment of his campaign promise and manifesto to turn Anambra into a destination for tourism and boosting the creative economy.
