I’m being bullied online - Lizzy Anjorin cries out

Controversial Nollywood actress and businesswoman, Lizzy Anjorin, has cried out for been “subjected to bullying” by some blogs.

Earlier in February, some reports claimed Anjorin stole gold in a market on Lagos Island.

The film star denied the allegations, adding that the incident was a “setup” against her.

A few days later, the actress was also in the news over a land-grabbing case involving Lateef Lawal, her husband.

In a court document obtained by journalists, another actress, Faith Ojo listed Lateef Lawal, Anjorin’s husband, among those sued for demolishing structures on her property.

Ojo is seeking N30 million in compensation and demands the defendants cover litigation costs.

She also seeks a perpetual injunction against them from entering or developing the land.

Ojo confirmed the allegations to be true via her Instagram page on Monday.

Expressing her annoyance over the allegations in an Instagram post on Saturday, the actress called out some blogs which she claimed to have been “bullying me with fake stories”.

“I can’t be working in this toxic environment and you all in return subject me to bully through your promotions of fake stories,” the post reads in parts.

On February 9, the police arraigned six traders before a court for allegedly assaulting and blackmailing Anjorin.

A.A. Paul, the presiding magistrate, granted each defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety each — who must be Lagos residents with evidence of tax payment.

He ordered that the defendants be remanded in the Nigerian Correctional Services until they meet their bail terms.

The case was adjourned till March 11 for mention.

Recalled that Actor Yomi Fabiyi had also addressed the assault case involving the six Lagos traders accused of attacking actress Lizzy Anjorin.

He emphasized the futility of violence and condemned various criminal activities including cyberbullying, assaults, and entrapment.

Fabiyi called for accountability from both the government and social media platforms like Instagram, particularly targeting ‘criminal’ blogs.

He criticized such platforms for their unethical practices, including selective targeting of individuals and lack of journalistic integrity.

Fabiyi stressed the importance of responsible journalism and urged for an end to anonymity in online platforms.

He commended Lizzy Anjorin for pursuing legal recourse instead of retaliating with violence and expressed solidarity with her.

Fabiyi concluded by highlighting the significance of justice in achieving peace and rectifying societal wrongs.
