 Zango Kataf, Jaba PDP Committees Hold Reconciliation Meeting Ahead Of 2027 Elections The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Working Committees in Zango Kataf and Jaba Local Government Areas have held a strategic reconciliation meeting aimed at strengthening party unity and positioning the party for success in the 2027 general elections. The meeting, held on Friday, July 31, 2026, in Jaba Local Government Area, was jointly chaired by the PDP Chairmen of Jaba and Zango Kataf LGAs, Sabastine David Bijiri and Martins Markus Koyah. It brought together party executives, stakeholders, ward officials, elders, youth and women leaders, as well as members from both local government areas. Speaking at the meeting, the Zango Kataf PDP Chairman commended party leaders and members for supporting the zoning of the party’s House of Representatives ticket to Zango Kataf Local Government Area.  Malawi’s Vice President, Saulos Chilima, Killed in Plane Crash




After an overnight search, rescuers found the wreckage of the military aircraft that had been carrying Vice President Saulos Chilima and nine others.


According to another source:


Malawi Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima alongside 9 other occupants confirmed dead in a plane crash


Chilima, 51, was aboard a military plane destined Mzuzu from Lilongwe. The plane went off-radar yesterday 10th June 2024 and couldn't be traced thus initiating search operations. The missing plane was found crushed in Chikangawa Forest with all occupants dead


The plane was carrying Vice President Saulos Chilima, former First Lady Shanil Dzimbiri and eight others departed from the capital Lilongwe but air traffic control in Mzuzu had informed the pilots not to try landing and instead to turn around because of bad weather and poor visibility. However Air traffic control lost contact with the aircraft and it disappeared from radar a short time later after take - off.


In a statement on Tuesday 11th June 2024 Colleen Samba, the president's secretary, confirmed the tragic news. Chilima has been vice president for Malawi since 2014.
