 Ohanaeze Council Condemns EFCC’s Declaration Of Lagos Governor's Ally, Aisha Achimugu Wanted The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has criticised the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over what it described as the "unjust persecution" of socialite and businesswoman Aisha Sulaiman Achimugu. The group, in a statement issued on Sunday by its National President, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, condemned the manner in which the EFCC raided Achimugu’s Abuja residence and declared her wanted, despite her being out of the country at the time. A viral video had earlier surfaced online, purportedly showing EFCC officials at the Achimugu family home, where her 80-year-old mother was allegedly forced to sit on the floor and she was denied water.  SIMISOLA FAJEMIROKUN AJAYI ACCUSED IBRAHIM LAMUWA OF HARASSMENT, INVITED BY ICPC



The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has invited Simisola Fajemirokun Ajayi, an employee of the federal ministry of foreign affairs, for interrogation over a probe into alleged graft. Ajayi who is married made news last week after she accused Ibrahim Lamuwa, the permanent secretary of the ministry, of sexual harassment. LIB had reported that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, had written a letter to the Head of service of the federation, Folasade Yemi-Esan, alerting her about the “persisting” allegations of sexual harassment against Lamuwa.


In a letter dated May 27, Tuggar said he felt it was necessary to write Esan following the “gravity of the matter”. Ajayi, through Femi Falana, a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN), had informed Tuggar of Lamuwa’s alleged sexual advances. Lamuwa has since denied the allegation, claiming that he turned down Ajayi’s request to pay her bills during an overseas trip. However, in a new twist to the saga, the ICPC has invited Ajayi to appear at its headquarters in Abuja today June 14 for an “interview”.


In a letter of invitation dated June 11 addressed to the minister of foreign affairs, the commission said it is “investigating an alleged violation of provisions of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000 and it has become imperative to have recourse to your office”.


“In view of the above, pursuant to section 28 and 40 of the said Act, you are kindly requested to release and direct Mrs Simisola Fajemirokun Ajayi of the ministry to appear for an interview before the undersigned at the Commission’s headquarters, Abuja, on Friday 14th June, 2024 at 1100 hours,” the letter reads in part


The letter, which was signed by S. Yahaya, acting director of information at the ICPC, did not give details of the violated act for which Ajayi was invited.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
