 Four people have died after a car was swept away at an overflowing bridge in the Makotopong River near Sebayeng. Police recovered the bodies after a blue Renault Kwid carrying five occupants was pulled into the river during heavy water flow on Sunday morning, 8 March 2026. One passenger escaped from the vehicle and alerted police and emergency services. Police say the car was travelling along the Madiga–Makotopong gravel road when it overturned at the flooded bridge and was dragged into the river. The Provincial Search and Rescue team recovered the first body on Sunday. The victim was identified as Lebapa Petrus Mochitele, 27, from Madiga Village. EMS personnel declared him dead at the scene. Search operations resumed on Monday with the SAPS Water Wing Unit, EMS Search and Rescue, the Fire and Rescue Department, and an EMS helicopter. CROSS-FIT ATHLETE DIES DURING SWIMMING EVENT IN TEXAS. (PHOTO).

 A CROSSFIT Games competitor has tragically died after taking part in a swimming event.


The annual event, in Fort Worth, Texas,  seeks to crown “the fittest man and the fittest women on Earth”.


Lazar Dukic, 28, died while competing in a CrossFit Games swimming event on Thursday. 


Who was Lazar Dukic?


Lazar Dukic sadly died while competing at Marine Creek Lake at the annual CrossFit Games.


The 28-year-old was a talented water polo player and an athlete ambassador for FITAID, a sports drink brand.


Gijs Spaans, the general manager of FITAID, worked with Dukic for three years and became good friends.


He described him as a driven athlete and a “guy who walks into a room and lights up the room”.


“He had an incredible work ethic with his athletics career but, you know, always also made time to speak to people and make time for them,” he added.


“Just a really, really good dude.”
