 U.S Finalizes $20,000 Visa Bond Policy Affecting Nigeria and 49 Other Nations The United States government has officially formalized its visa bond policy, making it a permanent measure that could require travelers from 50 designated countries, including Nigeria, to pay a refundable bond of up to $20,000 before receiving certain visas. First introduced as a pilot scheme in 2025, the policy targets applicants seeking B1 and B2 visas, which are designated for business and tourism. According to the U.S. Department of State, the initiative is designed to bolster compliance with local immigration laws and drastically reduce visa overstay rates.  Bike Rider Killed, Taxi Set on Fire by Separatist Fighters 


Separatist fighters claiming to be members of the Fako Black Tar group have carried out a deadly attack on a bike rider in the Mile 16 Bolifamba area of Buea, South West region, on the morning of September 2, 2024.


Eyewitness accounts and video footage show a taxi on fire, with heavily armed men moving around the scene.


 A picture obtained by CNA reveals the lifeless body of the bike rider, who appears to have suffered fatal gunshot wounds.


This latest attack comes amid the ongoing "ghost town" protests, where Mondays have been declared as days of civil disobedience. 


Recent instructions from one of the separatist factions have specifically called for the burning of yellow taxis, further escalating the tension in the region.


The fate of the taxi driver involved in the incident remains unknown.
