 TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms.   Governor Mbah Renames Obinagu Road to Mike Ejeagha Road in Honor of Folk Music Legend


Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has officially renamed Obinagu Road in Abakpa Nike, Enugu, to Mike Ejeagha Road. This renaming pays tribute to the legendary folk musician Mike Ejeagha, who has made enduring contributions to the preservation and promotion of Igbo folklore through his music.


Governor Mbah’s decision to rename the road reflects the state’s commitment to recognizing and celebrating the achievements of its cultural figures. Mike Ejeagha, a living legend, has played a pivotal role in enriching the Igbo cultural heritage, and this honor is seen as a fitting acknowledgment of his lifelong dedication to folk music.


Residents of Abakpa Nike and fans of Mike Ejeagha have welcomed the renaming, viewing it as a well-deserved recognition for an artist whose work has deeply resonated across generations.
