 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken.  Plateau Governor Sacks 17 LG Chairmen, Prepares for Local Government Elections


Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has announced the dissolution of the 17 Local Government Transition Implementation Committee Chairmen, effective 6th September 2024. This development was disclosed in a statement issued by the Governor on Friday night. The committees, which were constituted on 9th June 2023, had their tenures extended several times, but will now be replaced by Directors of Personnel Management in each local government area until elections are held on 9th October 2024 to fill the positions.


The Governor's statement, signed by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Dr. Gyang Bere, praised the outgoing Transition Committee Chairmen for their leadership and contributions to local development. "Governor Mutfwang commended the Transition Committee Chairmen for their exemplary leadership and dedication to advancing developmental projects that have directly impacted their communities," the statement read. The Governor also urged the former chairmen to continue offering valuable counsel to promote peace and unity within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and across Plateau State.


In addition, Governor Mutfwang called on the former chairmen to work closely with their constituents to ensure the success of the PDP in the upcoming local government elections. He thanked the people of Plateau State for their steadfast support, stating, "The outcome of the PDP primaries for the chairmanship and councillorship elections reflects the deep connection the people have with the party." The Governor reiterated his commitment to running a transparent and accountable government that prioritizes the interests of all citizens.
