 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. The attention of Anambra State Government has been drawn to the activities of some unscrupulous persons who have continued to deceive unsuspecting members of the public to purchase parcels of land within the World Bank Rice Project, Ufuma, claiming that it belongs to them


According to a notice issued by the Permanent Secretary, Anambra State Ministry of Lands, Mrs Nkeiru Mokwe, Esq on behalf of the commissioner,  the general public are advised to be wary of the activities of land grabebrs and/or any purported claim or release of the World Bank Rice Project, Ufuma, because the land belongs to the State Government and the Anambra State Government, through the Ministry of Lands has never released any land to anyone, persons or any community in that regards, even as the said parcels of land remains the property of the Anambra State Government.


"Anyone who wants to transact on any Government land or any land in the state should visit Ministry of Lands and conduct an official search to ascertain the true position of the property".


Land grabbers and persons in the habit of encroaching on Anambra State Government land are hereby warned to desist from any further encroachment or trespass as the State Government shall take all legal steps towards recovering the said parcels of land including criminal prosecution.
