 A Mother's Day Nightmare in Princeton, Illinois. A 3-year-old boy was struck by gunfire as police burst into a barricaded room, ending a frightening hostage situation. Multiple agencies responded to the Hummingbird Mobile Home Park in Princeton, Illinois, on Sunday, May 10th at 2:42 a.m. The initial call went out as a domestic disturbance but officers discovered much worse.  42-year-old, Anthony Rodriguez, had barricaded himself in a room armed with a knife. Anthony had taken several people as hostages, including Aurora Almanza and her 3-year-old son.  Multiple agencies were on the scene, including the Bureau County Sheriff's Office, Illinois State Police and  the Princeton Police Department.  Authorities attempted to negotiate but ultimately rushed the room when they heard screaming coming from inside.  Officials have reported that officers fired shots as they entered the room.  Kaduna Customs Mourns Over Demise of Assistant Comptroller Victor Tswanya


The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Kaduna Area Command mourns over the demise of Assistant Comptroller of Customs, Victor Tswanya, who passed away at his residence in Barnawa, Kaduna, after a brief illness.


The death of the senior officer was announced in an official statement released by the Command's Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Ridwan Yusuf, on 6 October 2024.


The statement reads, "It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Assistant Comptroller of Customs Victor Tswanya, who, until his demise, served as the Acting Deputy Comptroller in charge of Administration at the Kaduna Customs Area Command.


"Assistant Comptroller Tswanya, a dedicated officer, passed away peacefully at his Barnawa, Kaduna residence. His contributions to the Nigeria Customs Service, where he served for over three decades, will be deeply missed."


The statement further notes that the late senior officer was an indigene of Gbako Local Government Area of Niger State and was born on 7 November 1967. "He was enlisted into the Nigeria Customs Service on 1 January 1992 and was promoted to the rank of Assistant Comptroller on 1 January 2023."


The Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Tijani Abe, expressed deep sorrow over the loss, praising Tswanya as an exemplary officer whose contributions will be greatly missed.


The Command extended its condolences to Tswanya's family, praying for their strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
