 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken.  LASG RESUSCITATES GARDENS IN GOVERNMENT-OWNED INSTITUTIONS.


In a bid to ensure food sustainability and proper nutrition for the wards in its Homes, the Lagos State Government has resuscitated gardens in the Institutions under the Ministry of Youth and Social Development.


At a  programme held recently at the Rehabilitation and Vocational Training Centre, Isheri, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Social Development Pharm (Mrs.) Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu, said that the resuscitation and establishment of gardens in Institutions under the Ministry was an initiative not just about the creation of green spaces, but a significant step towards fostering environmental sustainability, enhancing food security and empowering the youths and communities.


Represented by the Director, Child Department, Mrs. Bukayo Odukoya, she said, "Gardens play a crucial role in promoting physical, mental and social wellbeing. For our Institutions, they serve as living laboratories where youth and members of the community can learn about agriculture, sustainability and the environment. Additionally, they provide a platform to instil values of responsibility, teamwork and a connection to nature".


Oke-Osanyintolu emphasised the importance of the initiative in line with the THEMES Plus Agenda of the present administration and global sustainable goals, particularly those related to zero hunger, climate action, good health and well-being


The Facilitators, Mr. Olagunju Clement Kayode and Mr. Otubela Ademola Ramon (both Deputy Directors, Ministry of Agriculture) took the participants on how to establish gardens, cultivate different crops and preserve, just as they also took the participants to the field for practical demonstration.


The Ministry gave out various farming implements like hoes, watering cans, cutlasses, etc to the representatives of the Institutions present at the programme.
