 Katsina woman rewarded with N500,000 for display of honesty A woman identified as Malama Amina Abdulkadir-Yanmaman has been rewarded with N500,000 and certificate of commendation for returning N748,320 wrongly credited to her account to the coffers of Katsina state government. Abdulkadir-Yanmaman was wrongly credited with N748,320 meant for the Federal Government’s Home Grown School feeding programme in the state, according to Executive Director, Katsina State Social Investment Programme Agency (KASIPA), Dr Mudassir Nasir.  Reps Urge Nigerian Government to Strengthen Campaign Against Insecurity in South-East


The House of Representatives has called on the Federal Government to take more decisive action in addressing the root causes of insecurity in the South-East region. The lawmakers recommended enhanced intelligence gathering, better community engagement, and improved coordination among security agencies.


This call followed the adoption of a motion by Paul Namchi (LP-Enugu) during Wednesday’s plenary. Namchi expressed concern over a recent attack on farmers in Mgbuji Eha-Amufu, Enugu State, where lives were lost, property destroyed, and many residents displaced. He noted that the region had been repeatedly targeted by armed bandits and herdsmen, leading to fear, instability, and food insecurity.


Namchi highlighted the previous deployment of soldiers by the former Chief of Army Staff, which helped to reduce such attacks but warned that the recent withdrawal of military personnel had left the community vulnerable. He stressed that ongoing insecurity threatens both the local population and national food security.


The House condemned the attacks and called for the immediate redeployment of soldiers to Mgbuji Eha-Amufu and other vulnerable areas in Isiuzo Local Government Area to restore peace. They also appealed to humanitarian organizations and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to provide relief to the victims and displaced persons.


Speaker Tajudeen Abbas instructed the Committees on Army and National Security to ensure prompt action on the matter.
