 GOVERNOR ABBA  YUSUF SACKS  KANO STATE HEAD OF SERVICE   The Executive Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has relieved the State Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa, of his appointment with immediate effect. In a statement  by the Director General, Media and Publicity to the Governor, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the decision is part of the ongoing efforts by the present administration to reposition the state civil service for greater efficiency, discipline, and improved service delivery across all government institutions. Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation to the outgoing Head of Service for his contributions and dedication to the service of the State  The statement further directed that Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, the Permanent Secretary, Admin and General Services at the Cabinet Office, to serve in an  acting capacity pending the appointment of a substantive Head of Service. AN 80-YEAR-OLD WOMAN LOST HER LIFE AFTER BECOMING FULLY ENGULFED BY FLAMES WHILE ON HER MOBILITY SCOOTER. (PHOTO).

 An 80-year-old woman loses her life after becoming fully engulfed by flames while on her mobility scooter.


Marjorie Hible of Ely, Minnesota, tragically lost her life in a heartbreaking accident on January 6th. The initial call came into first responders at 4:38 p.m. from the Boundary Waters Care Center. 


The 911 call indicated a victim  had been outside on her mobility scooter when staff members saw her engulfed in flames. According to reports, Marjorie Hible was fully engulfed in flames before staff were able to reach her. They were able to get Marjorie off of the scooter and extinguish the flames, causing one staff member to suffer non-life threatening burns.


Marjorie Hible was rushed to a nearby hospital where she passed away as a result of her injuries. 


The fire is under investigation but preliminary findings indicate the fire was the result of smoking a cigarette.  Presumably open flame may have come into contact with oxygen, however that is purely speculation until an official report is released.


Our thoughts are with the family of Marjorie Hible as well as staff members of Boundary Waters Care Center.
