 WAEC introduces resit exams for candidates The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced a new initiative, which will allow students to resit their WASSCE papers as early as January and February 2025. This marks a significant shift from the previous system, where candidates had to wait for the next private exam cycle. The Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, John Kapi, disclosed this while speaking on JoyNews’ AM Show in Ghana on Tuesday, December 31st. He explained that the new programme, referred to as WASSCE PC1, provides a faster route for students to improve their grades. “Students who access their results now and realise they need to resit one or two papers have until 8th January to register online through our website or at WAEC-accredited internet cafés. Anambra Govt Makes More Arrests, Parades Three For Burning Tires On Tarred Roads On New Year Eve.

Despite countless warnings by the Anambra State government against burning of tires on tarred roads, the Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade has arrested three more suspects for violating the warning on court road by CPS, Awka.


The Managing Director of the Brigade, Comrade Celestine Anere during the late hours of yesterday, December 31, 2024 and this morning, led the taskforce team to the area where the arrests were made. 


Comrade Anere explained that damaging public property in the name of festivities amounts to costly celebration and pleaded with community leaders and stakeholders to take ownership of government properties in their vicinities by personally supervising public celebrations to ensure that tax payers money are not wasted by few minutes of excitement.


The OCHA Brigade boss who explained that aside the fact that burning tyres release significant amounts of toxic pollutants with deadly chemicals into the atmosphere which are very harmful to plants, animals and aquatic life, Governor Chukwuma Soludo's drive to transform all state roads is being sabotaged by such careless and lawless behavior. 


Stating that all suspects will be charged to court with immediate effect after due documentation, Comrade Anere added that the state government cannot afford to have the roads built with public funds to be destroyed by few individuals. 


He, therefore, enjoined Ndi Anambra to shun the practice of burning tyres on roads as it often leads to infrastructural decay and to report any person found in the act to the agency.

Anambra Govt Arrests Four Suspects For Burning Of Tires On Tarred Roads

Barely days after the Anambra State government warned residents against burning of tires, Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade has arrested four suspects for violating the warning on the newly constructed Club Road, formerly Abakiliki Street. 


The Managing Director of the Brigade, Comrade Celestine Anere who led the taskforce team to the area, frowned at people's attitudes towards public infrastructure, especially the roads, and expressed the willingness of the Brigade to arrest and prosecute anyone found wanting.


The OCHA brigade boss used the occasion to call on residents, landlords, and community leaders to take responsibility of protecting government property and projects as the law is not a respecter of anyone.


One of the arrested suspects, Mr. Jeremiah Izuchukwu pleaded for forgiveness and said that he was not responsible for the burning of tires on the roads but knew those who did.
