The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi has significantly reduced the cost of kidney dialysis sessions, cutting prices by 70% to ease financial burdens on patients.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the hospitalās Head of Public Relations, Usman Koli, announced that the cost per session has dropped from ā¦40,000 to ā¦12,000. He highlighted that the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare had provided consumables in bulk and a new dialysis machine to support the initiative.
The hospitalās Chief Medical Director, Professor Yusuf Bara, expressed optimism about the programās positive impact, emphasizing the governmentās commitment to accessible and quality healthcare.
Over 45 patients have already benefited from the subsidized services, with kidney patient Magaji Galadima expressing heartfelt gratitude, calling the program "life-changing."
ATBUTH reaffirmed its dedication to delivering affordable healthcare and strengthening public confidence in the system, vowing to sustain and expand similar initiatives in collaboration with stakeholders.
