 Rema Becomes First African Artist on Rolling Stone Cover Nigerian music star Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has made history as the first African artist to be featured on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. The American publication, renowned for its coverage of music, politics, and pop culture, announced Rema as the cover star for its April 2025 edition. Mavin Records celebrated the achievement on Instagram, calling him the “Afrobeats Visionary.” Following the announcement, Rema delivered an electrifying performance at the Rolling Stone concert, thrilling audiences with hits like Dumebi, Woman, and Calm Down. This milestone further solidifies Rema’s influence in global music, coming shortly after his feature on Dazed magazine.  Burna Boy, Wizkid, Tems Nominated for 2025 NAACP Awards


Nigerian music icons Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Tems have received nominations for the 2025 NAACP Awards.


Other Nigerian nominees include actress Ayo Edebiri, who is recognized in multiple categories.


The 56th edition of the NAACP Awards will take place on February 22 at the Pasadena Civic Centre in California.


Wizkid earned two nominations for his collaboration with Brent Faiyaz on "Piece of My Heart," in the categories of Outstanding Duo or Collaboration and Outstanding International Song. Burna Boy and Usher were nominated for Best Collaboration for their track "Coming Home," while Tems’ "Love Me JeJe" earned her a spot in the Outstanding International Song category.


Ayo Edebiri is up for five nominations, including Outstanding Voiceover and Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series. South African singer Tyla is also nominated for Outstanding New Artist.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
