 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken. LAW ADMISSION SUSPENDED IN 8 UNIVERSITIES. (PHOTO).


 Law Admission Suspended in 8 Universities


Eight universities across the country have been suspended from admitting fresh candidates for law degree programmes.

The universities were suspended by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.


The spokesperson for JAMB, Fabian Benjamin who announced the new development said the decision was taken after the suspension of the Bachelor of Laws programme by the Council of Legal Education.

Admissions for Bachelor of Laws programme was suspended by the council for the 2025/2026 academic session at the affected institutions.


Benjamin in a statement said, “As a result, JAMB will not approve any admissions for candidates seeking to enroll in the Law programme at the aforementioned universities for the 2025/2026 academic session.

Below is a list of the universities affected by JAMB’s suspension of law programme


1. Kwara State University Malete, Ilorin, Kwara State

2. Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State

3. Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State,

4. Redeemers University, Ede, Osun State

5. Western Delta University, Oghara, Delta State.

6. Taraba State University, Jalingo, Taraba State

7. Arthur Jarvis University, Akpabuyo, Cross River State

8. Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State

Benjamin further noted that the Law programme at the Nigerian Police Academy would last for two academic sessions, specifically, the 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 sessions.

“Furthermore, the ban on registration for the Law programme at the Nigerian Police Academy will extend into the 2026/2027 academic session”, Benjamin said.
