NAHCON Initiates 2025 Hajj Preparations with Saudi Visit

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has commenced preparations for the 2025 Hajj with a working visit to Saudi Arabia, led by its Chairman, Prof. Abdullahi Usman.

The visit, which began on January 7, 2025, was initiated at the invitation of the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. Fatima Usara, NAHCON’s Assistant Director of Information and Publications, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.

“The purpose of the visit is to prepare for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the 2025 Hajj and finalize other essential arrangements for the annual pilgrimage,” she stated.

Delegation and Activities

The delegation includes NAHCON Commissioners for Planning, Operations, and Finance, along with representatives from State Pilgrims’ Welfare Boards, Private Tour Operators, and key national stakeholders such as the National Assembly, the Presidency, and the aviation sector.

The agenda features key activities, including a bilateral meeting and the MoU signing on January 12, where Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, is expected to sign on behalf of Nigeria.

The delegation will also participate in the International Hajj Expo starting January 13 to evaluate service providers for Nigerian pilgrims.

Preparatory Meetings and Inspections

In addition to attending the Expo, NAHCON will engage with consular officials, other Hajj missions, and e-track registration portal supervisors. Meetings with the General Authority of Civil Aviation will focus on finalizing logistics.

Simultaneously, NAHCON staff will inspect accommodations, catering, and medical facilities in Makkah and Madinah to ensure compliance with required standards before signing contracts with key service providers such as United Agents, Car Syndicates, and health supervision companies.

This visit underscores NAHCON’s commitment to ensuring a smooth and efficient Hajj experience for Nigerian pilgrims.
