  Embattled Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau says he will resign after new party leader chosen Justin Trudeau has said he intends to step down after nine years as Canadian prime minister in the face of a mounting set of crises, leaving office once a new ruling party leader is chosen. “I intend to resign as party leader, as prime minister, after the party selects its new leader,” the 53-year-old leader told reporters at a news conference in Ottawa on Monday. “I care deeply about this country and I will always be motivated by what is in the best interests of Canadians. And the fact is, despite best efforts to work through it, parliament has been paralyzed for months after what has been the longest session of a minority parliament in Canadian history,” he said, adding that the country’s parliament will be suspended until March 24 while a new leader is chosen. NDU Amawbia Celebrates Ezeriam Festival In Grand Style

The Ngene Amawbia community in Anambra State, Nigeria, recently celebrated their 38th annual Ezeriam Festival in grand style. This vibrant event aimed to honor the father of Ngene village, showcase their rich cultural heritage, and foster unity among community members.


The festival, held at Ebeakpu square, attracted notable personalities, including government officials and traditional leaders. The event featured the presentation of community awards to deserving individuals who have contributed to the development of Ngene village.


Attendees praised the event, with Hon. Uchenna Nwankwo, Chairman of Ngene Development Union (NDU), expressing gratitude for the success of the festival. The proceeds from the event will be used for the upkeep and maintenance of NDU.


Ozo Felix Nzeamalu, Chairman of the planning committee, emphasized the importance of preserving Igbo values and cultural heritage. He noted that the annual celebration of Ezeriam serves as a reminder of their rich cultural identity.

The award recipients appreciated NDU for the recognition, which they said will spur them to do more.


Hon. Uchenna Nwankwo, Chairman NDU said that he was happy with the success of the event, thanking the planning committee that made it happen. He said that the proceeds will be used for the upkeep and and maintenance of NDU, wishing Ndi Ngene peace and every good thing this 2025 and beyond.


The planning committee Chairman, Ozo Felix Nzeamalu, thanked the attendees for gracing the occasion. He noted that in recent time, Igbo values, norms/cultural heritage appeared to have been sacrificed in exchange for the Europeans', thus the need to annually celebrate Ezeriam, showcasing our rich cultural heritage as they are what makes us who we are.


He wished all God's blessings in all their productive endeavors and journey mercies back to their destinations.


Speaking to the press, Nze Ndubuisi Okonkwo said that he was overwhelmed with the success of the event.

As Okpaligwe aspirant, he prayed for peace and love for development to thrive. According to him, we are many vying for the position but I always pray for the right person to emerge. He prayed that 2025 will be a year of total restoration and recovery.


Nze Okwuchukwu Gbogu, Akajiofo, said that growing up, he used to attend Ezeriam festival. He prayed for the sustenance of the festival by the young generation, advising that peace should prevail.


Also, Mr Anayo Akpunonu said that as an Igbo man, he enjoyed the traditional social activities.


"Today's event bears eloquent testimony of the positive efforts and unwavering commitment of NDU in uplifting the good aspect of Igbo culture. It is my sincere belief that Ezeriam festival will not only serve as a unifying tool among Ndi Ngene but will also afford the opportunity of reorientation of youth on the values of our culture


The festival also featured traditional performances, including the Ijele masquerade, live band, Ufvie, and women's cultural dance. Overall, the Ezeriam Festival was a resounding success, promoting unity, cultural heritage, and community development.
