At the World Economic Forum summit in Davos, Nigeriaās Foreign Affairs Minister, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, advocated for Africa's inclusion in the UN Security Council, highlighting Nigeriaās qualifications to represent the continent. Tuggar criticized Africa's exclusion, noting that 60% of the Council's resolutions impact Africa.
He also emphasized Nigeriaās strategic role in global governance, citing its history of supporting African liberation, soft power through technical aid, and peaceful relations with neighbors. Tuggar made a case for Nigeriaās G20 membership, stressing its capacity to champion Africa's interests, including economic reforms and technology transfer commitments.
The panel discussion, which included other African leaders, underscored Africaās growing role in global decision-making. Tuggar called on South Africa to support Nigeriaās aspirations for greater representation.
