 Foreign Ministers of the AES countries to arrive in Moscow on Thursday for the first session of the AES-Russia consultations The upcoming two-day visit is a significant step in building practical, dynamic, and strong cooperation and strategic partnership between the AES and Russia, foreign ministers of Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger said in a joint press release, Sputnik Africa reported. "This meeting reflects the shared commitment of the heads of state of the AES and the Russian Federation to expand their partnership and political dialogue at the confederal level and to place them at the heart of their diplomatic, development, and defense agenda, in order to address the deep aspirations of the populations of the AES region," read the press release.

Transformer vandal electrocuted in Ogun


An unidentified man has been electrocuted while attempting to vandalise a transformer in the Akute area of Ogun State.


The community has been facing issues with the theft and damage of electrical wires from their power transformer.


The spokesman for the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed this in a statement obtained by our correspondent on Saturday, said that the deceased had climbed into the transformer house and while attempting to cut a wire, got electrocuted and died.


She revealed that the incident was reported to the police by the chairman of the Irewole community.


ā€œAt about 10:20 am, on Friday, the chairman of the Irewole community, a man identified as Rasheed Ajagbe, reported to the station that for a while, the community had been experiencing theft and damage of electrical wires from their power transformer.


ā€œHe reported that around 7 am, he received a call to inspect the transformer and he went there with other community executives.


ā€œWhen they arrived at the transformer house, they found the lifeless body of an unidentified individual and saw that the man had attempted to vandalise a wire, which then resulted in electrocution,ā€ the statement partly read.


Odutola stated that a team of detectives visited the scene and took photographs.


ā€œOnce we got the report, detectives visited the scene to investigate and take photographs. The PHCN office was contacted and the corpse was taken and deposited at General Hospital Ifo mortuary, for autopsy and preservation,ā€ the statement added.
