Wike Revokes PDP National Secretariat Land in Abuja The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revoked the land allocated to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for its national secretariat in Abuja. In a revocation notice dated March 13, 2025, and signed by the Director of Land Administration, Chijioke Nwankwoeze, Wike cited the party’s failure to pay annual ground rents for 20 years—from January 1, 2006, to January 1, 2025—despite multiple reminders through national newspapers and electronic media. The letter stated that the revocation was carried out under the powers conferred on the minister by the Land Use Act No. 6 of 1978. It also referenced Section 28, Subsection 5 (a) and (b) of the Act, which allows for land repossession due to non-compliance with occupancy conditions. The FCT administration will now take immediate possession of the property until all outstanding payments are settled.

Court Sets April 15 for Hearing in Ganduje’s Bribery Case

The Kano State High Court has scheduled April 15, 2025, to hear all pending preliminary objections in the bribery and misappropriation case involving APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, his wife, Hafsat Umar, and six others.

The Kano State Government has filed an eight-count charge against the defendants, accusing them of bribery, fund misappropriation, and the diversion of public funds amounting to billions of naira.

Other defendants in the case include Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Ltd, Safari Textiles Ltd, and Lasage General Enterprises Ltd.

During Thursday’s hearing, prosecution counsel Adeola Adedipe (SAN) informed the court that the prosecution was ready to proceed, having filed a motion on notice seeking an extension of time to regularize a preliminary objection.

Similarly, defense counsel for Ganduje, his wife, and Umar, Lydia Oluwakemi-Oyewo, indicated readiness for defense. However, some defense lawyers requested additional time to complete legal processes.

Counsel for the 3rd and 7th defendants, Adekunle Taiye-Falola, sought more time to respond to a further affidavit on points of law, while Sunusi Musa (SAN), representing the 5th defendant, moved a similar motion for an extension.

Meanwhile, counsel for the 6th respondent, Abubakar Ahmed, stated that he had already filed a preliminary objection and was prepared to proceed, whereas Ibrahim Aliyu-Nasarawa, representing the 8th defendant, requested additional time.

After reviewing the submissions, Justice Amina Adamu-Aliyu granted the applications for extension of time and adjourned the case to April 15, 2025.

The case, which has drawn widespread public interest, is expected to move forward with the hearing of objections before the substantive trial begins.
