 Texas man arrested with 75 pounds of marijuana in luggage while flying to London, police say A Texas man was arrested at Miami International Airport after authorities found 75 pounds of marijuana in his luggage before he could board a flight to London. Harrison O’Neill Tiernan, 23, from Austin, was charged with cannabis trafficking. He was traveling to Heathrow Airport and had checked two suitcases for his British Airways flight. Inspectors discovered 65 vacuum-sealed packages containing a green, leafy substance later confirmed to be marijuana. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped Tiernan while he attempted to board the flight, and he acknowledged that the bags were his. Authorities noted the inspections were part of broader efforts at the airport due to high outbound narcotics activity. In total, Tiernan was carrying 34.01 kilograms, or 74.98 pounds, of marijuana. Early morning auto crash on Monday has left nine people dead and three others with varying degrees of injuries on Lagos – Ibadan expressway.

The accident, which occurred around 5.30am at Ayetoro corridor of the expressway, involved a 13 people comprising 10 male and 03 female adults respectively.

Chief Route Commander and public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ogun State sector Command, Florence Okpe, who confirmed this on behalf of the sector Commander, Fasakin  Akinwumi, said 09 was recorded killed ( 06 males and 03 females) while three were injured.

Okpe gave the data of the vehicles involved as Toyota Hiace bus marked  UYY165ZY and a truck with registration number DKA244 XC.

She attributed the cause to fatigue and loss of control on the part of the driver, leading into crashing in the truck that was parked by the roadside of the expressway.

“The suspected causes of the fatal crash were excessive speed and fatigue which led to loss of control and the driver rammed into a station truck. 

“The injured victims were taken to Famobis Hospital mowe while the deceased were deposited at Idera morgue Sagamu.

“The Sector Commander Corps Commander Fasakin  Akinwumi  is  pained over the recklessness of some drivers  for not observing the stipulated speed limit and refusal to obey the 15 minutes rest after 4 hrs journey.

“He sympathises with the family of the crash victims and enjoined them to contact Mowe unit Command for more information about the crash,” she stated.
