 FG MOVES TO CUT EDUCATION COSTS, PROMOTE SUSTAINABILITY WITH REUSABLE TEXTBOOK POLICY The Federal Government of Nigeria has unveiled a comprehensive policy framework aimed at reducing the cost of education for parents, improving learning outcomes, and promoting sustainability in schools through the adoption of reusable, high-quality textbooks and strengthened quality assurance mechanisms. The policy, jointly issued by the Honourable Minister of Education  Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa and the Honourable Minister of State for Education Prof Suiwaba Sai'd, forms part of ongoing reforms to reposition Nigeria’s education sector and ease the financial burden on families.  Nine die as driver rams into truck on Lagos – Ibadan expressway 


Early morning auto crash on Monday has left nine people dead and three others with varying degrees of injuries on Lagos – Ibadan expressway.

The accident, which occurred around 5.30am at Ayetoro corridor of the expressway, involved a 13 people comprising 10 male and 03 female adults respectively.

Chief Route Commander and public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ogun State sector Command, Florence Okpe, who confirmed this on behalf of the sector Commander, Fasakin  Akinwumi, said 09 was recorded killed ( 06 males and 03 females) while three were injured.

Okpe gave the data of the vehicles involved as Toyota Hiace bus marked  UYY165ZY and a truck with registration number DKA244 XC.

She attributed the cause to fatigue and loss of control on the part of the driver, leading into crashing in the truck that was parked by the roadside of the expressway.

“The suspected causes of the fatal crash were excessive speed and fatigue which led to loss of control and the driver rammed into a station truck. 

“The injured victims were taken to Famobis Hospital mowe while the deceased were deposited at Idera morgue Sagamu.

“The Sector Commander Corps Commander Fasakin  Akinwumi  is  pained over the recklessness of some drivers  for not observing the stipulated speed limit and refusal to obey the 15 minutes rest after 4 hrs journey.

“He sympathises with the family of the crash victims and enjoined them to contact Mowe unit Command for more information about the crash,” she stated.
