So Linus Williams (Blord) has been released from Kuje prison after fulfilling his bail conditions, finally, freedom after a few weeks in custody. However, here’s the current position of his case:  He is still expected to show up and stand his trial.  If he fails to appear in court even for one day, his bail can be revoked and a bench warrant may be issued against him, meaning a return to Kuje. If the prosecution cannot prove the charges against him, he will be discharged and acquitted. If the prosecution proves the charges, he may be sentenced and sent back to Kuje. I think he should seek a peaceful resolution to the case. Congrats to him on his freedom for now.

Oyebanji’s Aides Resolve Tax Dispute Between EKIRS and Printers' Association

The Senior Special Assistants to the Ekiti State Governor on Tax and Revenue Matters, Hon. Ayodeji Adarabierin, and IGR, Hon. ‘Yomi Oso, have successfully mediated a tax dispute between the Ekiti State Internal Revenue Service (EKIRS) and the Association of Professional Printers of Nigeria (APPON).

The disagreement stemmed from allegations of arbitrary taxation and unfair assessments imposed by EKIRS on APPON members. Following weeks of tension, the governor’s aides facilitated negotiations and dialogue between both parties, ensuring a peaceful resolution.

Reaffirming Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s commitment to a fair and transparent tax system, the officials emphasized the importance of engaging stakeholders, including taxpayers and government agencies, to maintain a conducive business environment. They also pledged to prevent future disputes by acting as intermediaries between EKIRS and taxpayers.

APPON Chairman, Mr. Fabusola Omotayo, expressed gratitude for the swift intervention, noting that it would ease the tax burden on printers and support industry growth.

Meanwhile, EKIRS Chairman, Mr. Olaniran Olatona, reassured taxpayers that no new taxes would be introduced but stressed the government’s intent to block revenue leakages and ensure proper collection of statutory levies. He urged aggrieved taxpayers to seek clarification from EKIRS rather than escalate disputes.
