 UN says 53 Congolese refugees have died in Burundi More than 50 refugees fleeing fighting in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo have died in neighbouring Burundi, the United Nations Refugee Agency told Reuters late on Friday. Of a total 53 deaths recorded, 25 people died due to a cholera outbreak, the agency said, while six others died from anemia and other complications related to malnutrition, it said. The U.N. said it was working with the health ministry and other partners to investigate the cause of the other deaths. More than 100,000 Congolese have sought refuge in Burundi since fighting near the border intensified in early December and rebels seized the town of Uvira, the UNHCR said. Jean Jacques Purusi, governor of South Kivu province where Uvira is located, described the situation in Burundi as "misery" and "a crisis completely forgotten by the international community and media."  Tragic Truck Collision Claims Life on N2 in Pongola


A devastating accident on the N2 highway in Pongola has left the community in shock after two trucks collided head-on, resulting in a massive fire. One of the drivers tragically lost his life in the blaze.


The collision, which occurred when the trucks crashed into each other while traveling in opposite directions, caused an intense fire that engulfed both vehicles. Emergency services responded swiftly, but one driver succumbed to his injuries at the scene.


Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, and the N2 was temporarily closed for recovery operations. This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers on our roads and the need for caution while driving. Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased during this difficult time.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
