 TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms.  105 Companies Granted Tax Waivers in Q4 2024 — NIPC


The Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) has announced that 105 companies were granted corporate income tax waivers under the Pioneer Status Incentive in the fourth quarter of 2024.


According to the NIPC’s Q4 report, the beneficiaries, including Dangote Fertilisers, Mikano International, Dufil Prima Foods, and Edo Refinery, collectively invested over N2.4 trillion.


The pioneer incentive offers qualifying firms a three-year tax holiday, extendable by up to two years, to stimulate industrial growth.


As of December 31, 2024, NIPC received 19 new applications, approved extensions for eight companies, and granted 22 fresh approvals.


While the report did not disclose the total value of the waivers, authorities have flagged concerns over the rising cost of tax incentives, which reportedly amount to about N6 trillion annually.
