 Russia launches massive drone and missile barrage on Ukraine, killing at least 18 civilians and striking Kyiv and multiple cities  Russia carried out a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, launching hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles that killed at least 18 civilians and wounded more than 100 others across multiple cities, officials said Tuesday. The strikes hit Kyiv, Dnipro and other regions, with emergency crews working through destroyed residential buildings where some victims were trapped under rubble. In Dnipro, rescuers recovered the bodies of a 3-year-old child and a mother and her 8-year-old son, while officials reported 12 deaths in the city and six in Kyiv. The bombardment stretched from night into daylight, with explosions reported across wide areas of the country.  105 Companies Granted Tax Waivers in Q4 2024 — NIPC


The Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) has announced that 105 companies were granted corporate income tax waivers under the Pioneer Status Incentive in the fourth quarter of 2024.


According to the NIPC’s Q4 report, the beneficiaries, including Dangote Fertilisers, Mikano International, Dufil Prima Foods, and Edo Refinery, collectively invested over N2.4 trillion.


The pioneer incentive offers qualifying firms a three-year tax holiday, extendable by up to two years, to stimulate industrial growth.


As of December 31, 2024, NIPC received 19 new applications, approved extensions for eight companies, and granted 22 fresh approvals.


While the report did not disclose the total value of the waivers, authorities have flagged concerns over the rising cost of tax incentives, which reportedly amount to about N6 trillion annually.
