A 27-YEAR-OLD WOMAN NAMED LHING JANENG, ORIGINALLY FROM CHURACHANDPUR IN MANIPUR, WAS ALLEGEDLY KILLED BY HER LIVE-IN PARTNER IN SOUTHWEST DELHI’S MUNIRKA AREA, POLICE SAID ON SATURDAY. (PHOTO).

A 27-year-old woman named Lhing Janeng, originally from Churachandpur in Manipur, was allegedly killed by her live-in partner in southwest Delhi’s Munirka area, police said on Saturday.

The accused, Jagminthang, hailing from Senapati district in Manipur, was arrested on Tuesday. Police suspect he attacked her over doubts about an alleged affair.

The incident came to light on April 8 when a PCR call was made around 1:57 pm about a woman’s body found with injury marks near a medical store at Kranti Chowk. Police reached the spot and discovered the body in a room on the fifth floor of a building. Investigations revealed that Lhing had been living there with Jagminthang for the past year. On the night of the incident, the couple had hosted a party with three other guests, which ended around midnight. Police believe a fight broke out later that night, during which the accused physically assaulted Lhing.

According to the police, multiple injury marks were found on the victim’s body, and a post-mortem at Safdarjung Hospital confirmed signs of physical assault. Guests at the party also mentioned that Lhing had been threatened and beaten by the accused two days earlier. Based on the medical-legal report, a case under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) has been registered. Initially, Jagminthang misled investigators, but he later confessed during interrogation.
