43-year-old Clint, and 39-year-old Meghan McCaffety were traveling in a Ford Sedan with their 16-year-old son Connor at 4:40 p.m. on Monday, March 31st. The family were on their way to one of Connor's baseball games. The trio were traveling on Highway 36 .
The family stopped their vehicle at a construction zone in the west bound lane when a Kia SUV pulled up and stopped behind them. As the two vehicles waited for the light to change, an 18 wheeler came barreling in behind the vehicles and slammed into both cars.
The collision caused the Kia to roll into the ditch and the 45-year-old woman who was operating the Kia was rushed to the hospital. The extent of her injuries are unknown at this time.
Clint, Meghan and Conner were all pronounced deceased on scene. The family had just left a high school golf tournament and were heading to a home game at Rogers High School where Conner was in his junior year.
The school stated they will be providing counselors to any students affected by the tragedy.
Police are investigating the crash and what caused the semi operated by a 26-year-old man to fatally crash into the vehicles. There is no report on whether the semi driver was injured or not.
The McCaffety's leave behind a teen daughter. Our thoughts will be with her and the family and friends of the victims, as well as the community as they cope with this tragic loss.
