A Mother's Day Nightmare in Princeton, Illinois. A 3-year-old boy was struck by gunfire as police burst into a barricaded room, ending a frightening hostage situation. Multiple agencies responded to the Hummingbird Mobile Home Park in Princeton, Illinois, on Sunday, May 10th at 2:42 a.m. The initial call went out as a domestic disturbance but officers discovered much worse.  42-year-old, Anthony Rodriguez, had barricaded himself in a room armed with a knife. Anthony had taken several people as hostages, including Aurora Almanza and her 3-year-old son.  Multiple agencies were on the scene, including the Bureau County Sheriff's Office, Illinois State Police and  the Princeton Police Department.  Authorities attempted to negotiate but ultimately rushed the room when they heard screaming coming from inside.  Officials have reported that officers fired shots as they entered the room. A VERY PUZZLING MYSTERY SURROUNDS THE BIZARRE DEATH OF A SAN DIEGO WOMAN WHO WENT MISSING FOR 2 WEEKS. SHE WAS FOUND INSIDE OF A STORM DRAIN MILES FROM HOME.... ONLY TO UNFORTUNATELY DIE JUST HOURS AFTER RESCUE.(PHOTO)..

A very puzzling mystery surrounds the bizarre death of a San Diego woman who went missing for 2 weeks. She was found inside of a storm drain miles from home.... only to unfortunately die just hours after rescue.

59-year-old Yafang Zhou was last seen near her Union Street home on March 25th. An extensive search ensued and police were able to narrow down a location near Poway on Beeler Canyon Road.

While searching the area, police noticed some "belongings near a manhole cover and believed they heard a faint woman's voice". First responders then sent special listening equipment down the manhole and confirmed they were hearing faint moans and a female voice. This discovery was alarming for first responders.

Two first responders were sent down the manhole where they both began "army crawling" in opposite directions in an attempt to locate Yafang. They were eventually able to locate her and a very complicated rescue mission ensued. Ultimately, they were able to pull Yafang from her underground prison. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where sadly she passed away only hours later.

Officials are completely baffled on how Yafang came to be in the sewer systems. Her husband initially reported her missing after she did not return home on March 25th. A week later, her vehicle was located near the Beeler Canyon Trailhead and a ping on her phone helped to narrow down the search area.

Officials stated the part that is so puzzling is how she got down there and why she was down there in the first place. Officials shared that the manhole cover weighed around 100 lbs and absolutely none had been removed in the area where she was found. It is not clear how long she was trapped underground. Officials were heartbroken that she passed away shortly after rescue.

"What she was doing in there, what drove her in there, how she even came to be in there — we are unclear," San Diego Fire-Rescue battalion Chief Erik Windsor said after the extraction. "It is very unusual to have someone in there." It is very possible that Zhou had been there for days, Windsor said.

With Yafang's tragic passing only hours after rescue... these are questions that may never have any answers.

Our thoughts are with the family of Yafang Zhou and everyone who loved her.
