Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has paid an unscheduled visit to the site of a devastating fire incident that occurred at No. 73 Lagos Street, Off Ngwa road Aba, where a two-storey building was engulfed in flames, destroying properties worth millions of Naira.

Governor Otti expressed his sympathy for the victims and described the incident as "unfortunate." He assured them that the government would provide support to reduce the impact of their loss and help them secure alternative accommodation. The governor also thanked God that no lives were lost in the inferno.

The governor directed his Senior Special Assistant on Homeland Security to conduct an investigation into the cause of the fire. He emphasized the importance of having fire extinguishers in every household and ordered the enforcement of this measure.

Governor Otti was dismayed to learn that the phone numbers of the Fire Service men at Aba were switched off during the incident and called for a thorough investigation into the matter.

The victims, including the landlord, Mr. Vincent Uzuegbu, and tenants, Mr. and Mrs. Obinna Obi, recounted their ordeal, stating that they were asleep when the fire started and were unable to salvage any of their belongings. They appealed to the state government for assistance, having lost everything in the fire.
