 I led war for Tinubu’s election victory in Rivers – Wike Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Saturday, said he led the war that delivered victory to President Bola Tinubu in Rivers State during the 2023 presidential election. Speaking in Port Harcourt Local Government Area of Rivers State, Wike tackled former supporters of ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar who are now backing Tinubu. Wike noted that they failed to give Atiku 10 percent during the 2023 presidential election but have chosen to support Tinubu. He warned that nobody would be allowed to lead Tinubu’s campaign in the state. Wike said: “In 2023, we led the war to deliver President Tinubu in Rivers State. Those who supported Atiku in 2023 and couldn’t give him 10% are now saying that they’re going to lead President Tinubu’s campaign in Rivers State. “Is it possible? Nobody in this state can push us out. We have led the war and don’t be bothered about the abuses.”

 Air Peace Suspends Enugu Flights, Redirects Operations to Asaba Over Runway Safety Concerns


Air Peace has announced the immediate suspension of all flights to Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu, citing severe safety concerns due to the deteriorating condition of the airport’s runway. The airline made the announcement in a statement on Saturday, stating that operations to and from Enugu will be diverted to Asaba, Delta State, until further notice.


The airline highlighted ongoing disruptions caused by the poor state of the runway, describing the situation as unmanageable and urging the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to urgently address the issue. “At Air Peace, we prioritise safety over convenience. Suspending flights to Enugu will allow FAAN the opportunity to carry out necessary runway repairs,” the statement read.


Air Peace expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the change, noting that all scheduled Enugu flights will now operate from Asaba. The airline’s decision follows growing concerns among industry stakeholders about the deplorable state of Nigeria’s airport infrastructure, with many attributing frequent runway incursions in 2024 to defective runways.


The Managing Director of FAAN, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, had previously decried the condition of the country’s airport runways, noting that many have exceeded their operational lifespan. Kuku disclosed that N580 billion is required to rehabilitate 17 runways and upgrade related infrastructure, including perimeter roads and fencing, as part of the agency’s budget considerations for the year.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
