 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken.  NIGERIAN NAVY SHIP SOROH CONDUCTS MEDICAL RHAPSODY IN BAYELSA STATE


On Friday 4 April 2025, Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) SOROH led by the Commander, Commodore OA Akinbami conducted a Medical Rhapsody in Tombia Community, Yenagoa LGA of Bayelsa State. The Rhapsody had series of services rendered to members of the Community which included free general consultation, free blood pressure checks, eye screening with free medicated glasses, free laboratory tests, free insecticide treated nets as well as health talk.


In his remarks, the Commander NNS SOROH stated that the outreach was in line with the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral EI Ogalla’s strategic directive to all Commands, Ships and Establishments to conduct a medical outreach to host communities. Lastly, he said that the outreach will enhance Civil Military relationship with the host community thereby aiding intelligence gathering.


In attendance was the Acting paramount ruler of Tombia Community, Chief (Egnr) Ayabowei Christian Akpofaa Otobotekere represented by the Community Development Chairman, Mr Exodus Ebi who expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Navy for bringing such initiative to his community.
