 TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms.  POLITICAL PARTY PRIMARIES AHEAD OF 2025 GUBERNATORIAL ELECTION IN ANAMBRA: CP ORUTUGU ADMONISHES OFFICERS TO BE APOLITICAL AND URGES CANDIDATES TO PLAY BY THE RULE


The Commissioner of Police Anambra State *CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD*, during interaction with the strategy Officers of the Command today 4th April 2025 noted the commencement of Political activities in the State. This follows the ongoing preparations for Political parties primaries where candidates that will be their flag bearers ahead of the State Gubernatorial election are selected. The CP admonished the Officers deployed to provide security services in this regard to be professional, apolitical and neutral. He also urged the candidates to adhere to the rules by ensuring a peaceful and credible electoral process.


To maintain law and order, the Command has deployed personnel strategically and engaged with stakeholders to prevent potential conflicts. This proactive approach will help to build confidence and trust among the electorates and ensure a smooth voting process. The Security teams are expected to carry out security patrols, surveillance, traffic control and patrols in conjunction with sister security agencies.


The *CP* called on members of the public to coordinate themselves and cooperate with the police and other security agencies in the course of discharging their constitutional responsibilities.
