 BREAKING NEWS ANAMBRA POLICE RECORD FURTHER BREAKTHROUGH IN OGIDI, RECOVER MORE ARMS In continuation of an earlier operation by Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, which led to the arrest of three suspects and recovery of arms in Ogidi on 21st March 2026, the Anambra State Police Command has recorded further breakthrough following sustained investigation and interrogation. The Operatives made additional progress with the arrest of the suspected ringleader of the syndicate, one Chukwuka Anene ‘M’, aged 46 years, who confessed to being the armourer of the gang. The suspect subsequently led Police operatives to the gang’s hideout in Ogidi, where the following items were recovered: two pump-action guns, two locally made Beretta pistols, five rounds of 9mm ammunition, seven live cartridges, a beret linked to a cult group, and body armour.  POLITICAL PARTY PRIMARIES AHEAD OF 2025 GUBERNATORIAL ELECTION IN ANAMBRA: CP ORUTUGU ADMONISHES OFFICERS TO BE APOLITICAL AND URGES CANDIDATES TO PLAY BY THE RULE


The Commissioner of Police Anambra State *CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD*, during interaction with the strategy Officers of the Command today 4th April 2025 noted the commencement of Political activities in the State. This follows the ongoing preparations for Political parties primaries where candidates that will be their flag bearers ahead of the State Gubernatorial election are selected. The CP admonished the Officers deployed to provide security services in this regard to be professional, apolitical and neutral. He also urged the candidates to adhere to the rules by ensuring a peaceful and credible electoral process.


To maintain law and order, the Command has deployed personnel strategically and engaged with stakeholders to prevent potential conflicts. This proactive approach will help to build confidence and trust among the electorates and ensure a smooth voting process. The Security teams are expected to carry out security patrols, surveillance, traffic control and patrols in conjunction with sister security agencies.


The *CP* called on members of the public to coordinate themselves and cooperate with the police and other security agencies in the course of discharging their constitutional responsibilities.

 How Suspected Phone Snatchers Killed Army Lieutenant In Kaduna  An army officer identified as Lieutenant IM Abubakar has reportedly been hacked to death by a gang that specialises in phone snatching and other crimes. The deceased was killed in the Unguwan Sarki area of Kaduna metropolis during the week. A popular counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in Lake Chad, Zagazola Makama disclosed this in a Twitter post. Makama described Abubakar as a talented officer.  He said, “Lt IM Abubakar(Isa) A Young Talented Army Officer Was Killed By Phone Snatchers on His Way Home In Unguwan Sarki, Kaduna. May his soul rest in peace.”
