According to The Times of India, Tata left over ā¹3 crore for his domestic servants and employees, distributing ā¹15 lakh to each staff member who had served him for at least seven years. The amount was to be given proportionate to their years of service.
The bulk of Tataās ā¹3,800-crore estate has been bequeathed to the Ratan Tata Endowment Foundation and the Ratan Tata Endowment Trust. However, some of his closest employees received special mentions. His longtime cook, Rajan Shaw, received over ā¹1 crore, including a ā¹51 lakh loan waiver. Ratan Tata also instructed that his clothesāincluding high-end brands like Brooks Brothers, Hermes, Polo, Daks, and Brioniābe donated to NGOs to benefit the underprivileged. He further forgave multiple personal loans, including ā¹18 lakh for his driver, Raju Leon, and an undisclosed amount to a neighbor. His will, dated February 23, 2022, stated that these loans should not be recovered and should instead be considered gifts.
Tataās love for animals was also reflected in his will, as he made special provisions for his German Shepherd, Tito. The industrialist set aside ā¹12 lakh for Titoās care, with ā¹30,000 to be disbursed every quarter. The pet will remain under the care of cook Rajan Shaw, ensuring that even in his absence, Tataās beloved dog continues to receive the best care.
