 Zango Kataf, Jaba PDP Committees Hold Reconciliation Meeting Ahead Of 2027 Elections The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Working Committees in Zango Kataf and Jaba Local Government Areas have held a strategic reconciliation meeting aimed at strengthening party unity and positioning the party for success in the 2027 general elections. The meeting, held on Friday, July 31, 2026, in Jaba Local Government Area, was jointly chaired by the PDP Chairmen of Jaba and Zango Kataf LGAs, Sabastine David Bijiri and Martins Markus Koyah. It brought together party executives, stakeholders, ward officials, elders, youth and women leaders, as well as members from both local government areas. Speaking at the meeting, the Zango Kataf PDP Chairman commended party leaders and members for supporting the zoning of the party’s House of Representatives ticket to Zango Kataf Local Government Area. Sultan of Sokoto Declares April 29 as First Day of Zulki’ida 1446AH


The Sultan of Sokoto and President of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), His Eminence Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, has declared Tuesday, April 29, 2025, as the first day of Zulki’ida 1446AH.


This announcement was made in a statement by Professor Sambo Wali Junaidu, Wazirin Sokoto and Chairman of the Sultanate Council’s Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs.


According to the statement, no credible reports of the new moon’s sighting were received across Nigeria on Sunday, April 27, leading to the completion of Shawwal with 30 days, in accordance with Islamic tradition.


The Sultan urged Muslims to continue praying for peace, unity, and national progress while emphasizing the importance of compassion, tolerance, and respect.


The Sultanate Council also appreciated the efforts of the National Moon Sighting Committees and advised Muslims to rely only on official announcements for religious guidance.


The Council prayed for Allah’s blessings on the new month and for continued peace and prosperity across the nation.
