Stolen Vehicle En Route to Zimbabwe Intercepted by Police

Members of the Provincial Anti-Smuggling Team successfully intercepted a suspected stolen vehicle near the Limpopo River on Thursday morning, dealing a blow to cross-border smuggling syndicates.

Acting on intelligence, police tracked a white Toyota Cross SUV travelling along Malale's Drift, believed to be heading towards an illegal crossing into Zimbabwe. At around 06:00, officers spotted the vehicle hidden in the bushes near the riverbank.

When police attempted to stop it, the vehicle sped off but became stuck in the sand. Two male suspects quickly fled on foot across the border into Zimbabwe, evading arrest.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the SUV belongs to a private company in South Africa, although it had not yet been officially reported stolen. The vehicle was impounded at the scene, and investigations are ongoing.
