Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken.  Suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Denies Violating Court Orders in Dispute with Senate President Akpabio

Suspended Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has denied breaching court orders that restrained her from posting on social media or granting interviews regarding her allegations against Senate President Godswill Akpabio. The denial comes in response to a fresh application filed by Akpabio’s legal team, led by Kehinde Ogunwumiju, SAN, at the Federal High Court in Abuja, demanding that Akpoti-Uduaghan delete a controversial video and remove related posts from her social media accounts.

The legal action stems from a video Akpoti-Uduaghan shared on April 27, 2025, on her Facebook page, where she sarcastically “apologized” to Akpabio, saying she was “sorry for the crime of maintaining dignity and self-respect” and for not allowing the Senate President to “have his way” with her. The post, described as a satirical apology, went viral and was widely interpreted as a jab at Akpabio amid ongoing tensions between the two lawmakers. The conflict originated from Akpoti-Uduaghan’s earlier accusation of sexual overtures by Akpabio following a dispute over Senate seating arrangements.

In a counter-affidavit, Akpoti-Uduaghan dismissed Akpabio’s claims as “misleading and inaccurate,” arguing that her April 27 post, titled “Satirical Apology Letter,” did not reference the ongoing case or prejudice the proceedings. She described the post as “political satire on patriarchal norms in the legislature,” protected under Section 39(1) of the Nigerian Constitution as free speech. She further accused Akpabio’s team of malice, claiming the motion was intended to “harass, intimidate, and scandalize” her for exercising her constitutional rights to free expression and a fair hearing. Additionally, she pointed out that Akpabio’s counsel, Monday Ubani, SAN, had also commented on the proceedings via a Facebook post on May 4, 2025, while vilifying her.
