 Malian army withdraws from key Tessalit military camp: sources Mali’s army and its Russian mercenary allies have surrendered Camp Tessalit, a strategic military post in the north, multiple sources told the AFP news agency on Friday. An official from the Tuareg-led separatist group claimed soldiers and mercenaries at the camp had "surrendered", following a fierce fight over the weekend. Simultaneous attacks in Mali by militants linked to Al Qaeda and separatist Tuareg rebels on April 25 showed how fighters ​from different groups with different goals were able to strike at the heart of the West African country's military government.  FCT Police Deny Sealing PDP Secretariat Amid Tensions Over Blocked Meetings


The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has refuted claims that it sealed off the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national headquarters in Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, on Monday, amid allegations of police interference in the party’s scheduled meetings.


Ibrahim Tsauri, a PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) member and former National Secretary, told journalists that police operatives barred BoT members from accessing the party’s Wadata Plaza secretariat, where a meeting was set to take place. Tsauri claimed the police cited “orders from above” and prohibited any meetings on the premises, escalating tensions ahead of the PDP’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.


However, FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, dismissed the allegations in a statement, describing them as “false, misleading, and not reflective of the true situation on ground.” Adeh clarified that police were deployed to the area solely to maintain law and order, in line with their constitutional duty to ensure public safety. “At no time was the secretariat sealed off by the police,” she stated.


The Commissioner of Police, FCT, urged media outlets to verify information through the command’s public relations office before reporting. The incident has heightened political friction, with the PDP accusing authorities of obstructing its activities as it prepares for critical internal deliberations.
