Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence.  Progress Update on the Akute-Lambe-Agbado Road Reconstruction Project

The transformation of the Akute-Lambe-Agbado corridor is visibly underway, with heavy-duty construction equipment fully mobilized and executing earthworks across multiple sections. The scope of the project covers critical stretches, including Akute Bridge, Oke Aro, and Agbado Bridge, forming a vital link between densely populated communities in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Recent site photos show significant progress in the following areas:

 • Road grading and leveling are actively ongoing, with motor graders (SEM 920F) and bulldozers at work shaping the roadbed.

 • Excavators and dump trucks are moving and depositing lateritic soil as part of the base preparation, with clear evidence of material layering to ensure durability.

 • Removal of unsuitable  soil and replaced with good laterite.

Construction of drains and laybys will soon commence.

This project is particularly strategic as it serves thousands of daily commuters, traders, and residents within the border axis of Ogun and Lagos States. The ongoing intervention reflects the Ogun State government’s commitment to improving rural-urban connectivity, boosting local commerce, and relieving traffic pressure from adjoining Lagos suburbs.

As the work continues, residents can expect a long-awaited upgrade to their transportation experience—marking a critical milestone in the state’s broader infrastructure renewal plan.
