 Texas man arrested with 75 pounds of marijuana in luggage while flying to London, police say A Texas man was arrested at Miami International Airport after authorities found 75 pounds of marijuana in his luggage before he could board a flight to London. Harrison O’Neill Tiernan, 23, from Austin, was charged with cannabis trafficking. He was traveling to Heathrow Airport and had checked two suitcases for his British Airways flight. Inspectors discovered 65 vacuum-sealed packages containing a green, leafy substance later confirmed to be marijuana. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped Tiernan while he attempted to board the flight, and he acknowledged that the bags were his. Authorities noted the inspections were part of broader efforts at the airport due to high outbound narcotics activity. In total, Tiernan was carrying 34.01 kilograms, or 74.98 pounds, of marijuana.  National Commissioner Vusi Masango deducts over R500,000.00 from junior cops salaries, says “it’s a mistake” as Police Union demands answers.


Vusi Masango,the National Commissioner of Police has written a memo, apologizing for deducting over five hundred thousand Rands(R500,000.00) Sports and Welfare money from junior police officers salaries.

“The Office of the National Commissioner has noted a double deduction in the annual Sports and Welfare subscriptions. Officers may have noted that sixty Emalangeni(E60) was deducted for both the month of May and June 2025. This anomaly is high regretted and advise from the Treasury Department is that, this unforeseen mishap may only be addressed by carrying over the other sixty Emalangeni to the year 2026. This means that this office will endeavor to ensure that deductions are not done for the year 2026 in respect of the Sports and Welfare Fund,”reads the memo in part.

It has been disclosed that, with over four thousand five hundred(4500) police officers in the country, the National Commissioner allegedly deducted over R500,000.00 from their salaries.

Police Spokesperson Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati declined to comment about the matter.

But in a letter sent to the National Commissioner, the Royal Eswatini Police Staff Association(REPOSA) urged Masango to reverse the money with immediate effect.

“The office of the Secretariate has noted the dissatisfaction of its general members on the conduct of the Office of the National Commissioner through frequent calls and formal complaints lodged in a general meeting that was held on 21 June 2025.These complaints have prompted the office of the Association to write this letter to your office for necessary action(s).The complaints are summarized as follows; The National Commissioner must and shall desist from deducting from the salaries of the members without consent.This has been noted in the past two months namely, May and June 2025 where monies were deducted under Sports and Welfare. We call upon the reversal of these monies to the respective accounts within seven(7) working days with effect upon receipt of this letter to avoid unnecessary litigation,” reads the letter in part.
