 PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS MS. ADEDAYO BENJAMIN LANIYI AS DG/CEO OF THE MARYAM BABANGIDA NATIONAL CENTRE FOR WOMEN DEVELOPMENT President Bola Tinubu, has approved the appointment of Ms. Adedayo Benjamin Laniyi as the Director-General /Chief Executive Officer of the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development (MBNCWD) and  members of the Governing Council  for an initial term of four (4) years. In a letter signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume the appointment which takes effect from April 18, 2026, is in accordance with the provisions of Section 7 (1) and (3) of the National Centre for Women Development (Amendment) Act, 2023. TCN RESTORES ELECTRICITY TO SIX STATES IN NORTHEAST NIGERIA AFTER PROLONGED DARKNESS. (PHOTO).


 TCN restores electricity to six states in Northeast Nigeria after prolonged darkness


The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, has announced the restoration of normal bulk electricity supply to the six states in North-east Nigeria.


TCN spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.


The power restoration comes after completing the connection of the new Bauchi 330/132 kV Transmission Substation to the national grid through the 330 kV and 132 kV Jos-Bauchi-Gombe Transmission Line.


“The lines were initially switched off to enable TCN energise the new Bauchi Substation, one of the biggest substations in the region to the grid.


“The transmission lines have now been reconnected back to the grid. Consequently, supply to the north-east has been restored since the 19th of June at about 16:45 hours.


“With the project completed, bulk power transmission has been restored to Jos and Yola Electricity Distribution Companies, which supply electricity to customers in Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe, Damaturu, Adamawa, and Taraba States.


“This connection of the new substation to the national grid has enhanced power reliability, diversified transmission routes, and improved emergency response capabilities in the Northeastern region.


“We appreciate the patience and support of affected customers during the outage period,” TCN stated.


The region had been thrown into darkness since June 10, 2025.
