Russia launches massive drone and missile barrage on Ukraine, killing at least 18 civilians and striking Kyiv and multiple cities  Russia carried out a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, launching hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles that killed at least 18 civilians and wounded more than 100 others across multiple cities, officials said Tuesday. The strikes hit Kyiv, Dnipro and other regions, with emergency crews working through destroyed residential buildings where some victims were trapped under rubble. In Dnipro, rescuers recovered the bodies of a 3-year-old child and a mother and her 8-year-old son, while officials reported 12 deaths in the city and six in Kyiv. BRYAN KOHBERGER HAS AGREED TO PLEAD GUILTY TO ALL COUNTS IN THE BRUTAL MURDERS OF FOUR UNIVERSITY OF IDAHO STUDENTS, ACCEPTING FOUR CONSECUTIVE LIFE SENTENCES TO AVOID THE DEATH PENALTY.(PHOTO).

Bryan Kohberger has agreed to plead guilty to all counts in the brutal murders of four University of Idaho students, accepting four consecutive life sentences to avoid the death penalty.

The criminology PhD student will officially enter his plea this Wednesday, just weeks before his trial was set to begin in August. Kohberger was charged with killing roommates Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Kernodle's boyfriend Ethan Chapin in their off-campus home in November 2022.

The quadruple stabbing shocked the small college town of Moscow, Idaho, and launched a seven-week manhunt before Kohberger's arrest in Pennsylvania. DNA evidence linked him to the crime scene, prosecutors said.

In a letter to victims' families, prosecutors explained that the plea deal ensures Kohberger will spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole, while sparing families from decades of potential appeals and uncertainty.

The case captivated national attention and raised questions about campus safety.
